My name is Leanna Bender. I have been a speech-language pathologist for over 9 years. I’ve been able to work in a variety of settings including skill nursing facilities, inpatient/outpatient hospital, elementary school, and outpatient pediatric clinics while working locally and working as a traveling therapist. As I was working locally in the Quad Cities, we consistently had a waiting list in our outpatient clinic. We found out from fellow SLPs and parents that we were not the only ones with a waiting list, but every other clinic in the Quad Cities had a waiting list for speech services, too! While I have a physical location located within Cram Chiropractic in DeWitt, IA to provide services in if needed, my goal is to provide services in the home or daycare settings. Many parents with multiple children or busy schedules are unable to commit to bringing their child to therapy 1-3 times per week. By providing services in the home, the client can receive services in a comfortable setting which can help promote language development, and reduce the burden on the parent.
